Is Trauma Therapy in Bend, Oregon Right for You?

You Look Like You Have It All Together

So Why Doesn’t It Feel That Way?

Do any of these feel close to home?

From the outside:

  • Your life works

  • You’re capable, responsible, and dependable

  • You’re successful—and you’ve worked hard for it

  • You’re the one people trust to get things done

  • You’re known for being reliable, efficient, and “on top of it”

On the inside:

  • You feel like you’re always “on”

  • You overthink, over-function, and push through

  • You’re exhausted… but your mind won’t slow down

  • Your body doesn’t feel settled, even when nothing is wrong

  • The idea of letting go of control—or not getting it “just right”—feels really uncomfortable, even overwhelming

  • You feel stuck, like you can’t fully be yourself.‍ ‍

  • You’re always a little hyperaware—of yourself, of others, of how you’re being perceived.Am I doing this right? Did I say something wrong? What if they think…”

  • You feel slightly tense… all the time —like you can’t fully relax

And underneath it all:

You’ve gotten good at saying I’m fine.” Even when you’re not totally sure that’s true.

There’s a quiet awareness that something feels off.

“I don’t know if I want to keep doing this, but I also don’t know what else to do”

You can be a capable & dependable woman who is “fine” on the outside—and still feel stuck, tense, and disconnected—and trauma therapy with me, is a space to finally understand why and begin to shift it.

You have done everything “right.”

But you keep asking yourself, “Why can’t I ever relax?”

These patterns aren’t signs of weakness or failure.

They’re ways your system learned to cope when things felt like too much.

With trauma & EMDR therapy in Bend, Oregon, we don’t force change or take those patterns away.
We get curious about them—so you can understand what your system needs and begin to feel more grounded, connected, and in control.

This work happens at your pace, in a space where your body can start to learn:

it’s actually safe to slow down.

Meet Meghan Hanes, LCSW

A smiling woman with short hair, tattoos on her arm, wearing a black shirt and checkered pants, sitting on steps.

Hi, I’m Meghan—a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and EMDR-trained trauma therapist based in Bend, Oregon.

I work with adults who feel stuck in the impact of past experiences—replaying the past, reacting in ways that feel out of control, or relying on substances or other coping strategies just to get through the day. You might feel overwhelmed by your emotions or caught in patterns like anxiety or substance use that once helped, but no longer feel sustainable.

These responses make sense. But over time, they can start to feel exhausting.

This work is personal to me. I know what it’s like to have a mind that won’t shut off—constantly “on,” slightly buzzing, like everything is urgent for no clear reason. Slowing down doesn’t feel natural… it feels risky (and honestly, a little uncomfortable).

It’s exhausting. And it’s not random.

That’s why I care so much about helping you understand what’s underneath it—so you can actually feel calmer, not just look like you have it together.

Using EMDR therapy, parts-based approaches, and strengths-focused counseling, I help you process unresolved experiences, calm your nervous system, and build more sustainable ways of coping—without judgment and at a pace that feels safe.

I offer virtual trauma therapy for adults (18+) in Bend and across Oregon.

Trauma Therapy: When You Can't Stop Overthinking & You're Not Sure Why

You may have tried to think your way out of it—making sense of your reactions, analyzing what’s happening, trying to stay in control.

But the overthinking, the tension, and the intensity of your responses often come from your nervous system, not just your thoughts.

Trauma therapy helps you work at that deeper level—so you can feel more settled, reduce overwhelm, and respond in ways that feel more aligned and intentional.

Substance Use Therapy: When Drinking or Using Has Become Your Main Way to Cope

You might not think of it as a “problem”—but you’ve started to notice you rely on alcohol or other coping strategies more than you’d like.

Maybe it’s how you unwind, turn your brain off, or finally relax at the end of the day. It works—until it doesn’t.

This isn’t about labels or judgment. Together, we look at why this pattern exists, what it’s doing for you, and how to build other ways to cope—so you can feel more in control and have real choice.

EMDR Therapy: Healing That Goes Deeper Than Talk Therapy

You’ve probably talked about it. Thought about it. Tried to make sense of it.

But it still shows up—in your reactions, your body, your day-to-day life.

EMDR therapy helps your brain process what’s been stuck, so it’s not constantly being reactivated. You don’t have to relive everything—you just don’t have to carry it the same way anymore.

EMDR Intensives: Focused Healing Without Waiting Months for Results

Weekly sessions can help—but they can also feel like starting and stopping.

EMDR Intensives create space to stay with the work long enough for real processing to happen. Instead of circling the same patterns, we focus in and move through them—so you can feel less triggered, more settled, and finally experience some relief.
