Trauma Therapy in Bend, Oregon: To Help You Heal & Feel Safe Again

Trauma ⎸ Substance Use ⎸ EMDR

Currently accepting clients 18 years+ for virtual appointments throughout Oregon

“Childhood trauma can lead to an adulthood spent in survival mode, afraid to plant roots, to plan for the future, to trust, and to let joy in. It’s a blessing to shift from surviving to thriving. It’s not simple, but there is more than survival.”

Do any of these feel close to home?

From the outside:

  • Your life works

  • You’re capable, responsible, and dependable

  • You’re successful—and you’ve worked hard for it

  • You’re the one people trust to get things done

  • You’re known for being reliable, efficient, and “on top of it”

On the inside:

  • You feel like you’re always “on”

  • You overthink, over-function, and push through

  • You’re exhausted… but your mind won’t slow down

  • Your body doesn’t feel settled, even when nothing is wrong

  • The idea of letting go of control—or not getting it “just right”—feels really uncomfortable, even overwhelming

  • You feel stuck, like you can’t fully be yourself.‍ ‍

  • You’re always a little hyperaware—of yourself, of others, of how you’re being perceived.Am I doing this right? Did I say something wrong? What if they think…”

  • You feel slightly tense… all the time —like you can’t fully relax

And underneath it all:

You’ve gotten good at saying I’m fine.” Even when you’re not totally sure that’s true.

There’s a quiet awareness that something feels off.

“I don’t know if I want to keep doing this, but I also don’t know what else to do”

These patterns aren’t signs of weakness or failure.

They’re ways your system learned to cope when things felt like too much.

In trauma therapy, we don’t force change or take those patterns away.
We get curious about them—so you can understand what your system needs and begin to feel more grounded, connected, and in control.

This work happens at your pace, in a space where your body can start to learn:

it’s actually safe to slow down.

Support that helps you move from surviving to truly living

When hard life experiences pile up—trauma, mental health struggles, or substance use—just getting through the day can become the goal. That doesn’t mean something is wrong with you. It means you adapted to survive. I understand that, and my goal is to help you gently move from surviving to actually living again.

What Trauma Therapy in Bend, Oregon Can Help You Shift

Less Pressure, Less Performing

You don’t have to prove anything here. You get to show up as you are.

Your Body Starts to Feel Safer

Not just as a thought—but something you actually feel.

More Space Between Feeling and Reaction

So you’re not stuck on autopilot—you have choice.

Understanding Your Coping (Instead of Fighting it)

We get curious about what it’s doing for you—so it can start to loosen its grip.

Letting Go of Constant “On” Mode

So rest, boundaries, and slowing down start to feel safe—not uncomfortable.

This isn’t about forcing change. It’s about your system learning it doesn’t have to stay on high alert. From there, change become something you choose - not something you have to force.

Support What I Offer

Meet Meghan Hanes, LCSW

Hi, I’m Meghan! I work with people who feel stuck in trauma—replaying the past, reacting in ways that feel out of control, or relying on substances or other coping strategies just to get through the day. These responses make sense, but they can start to feel exhausting or limiting over time.

Using EMDR and trauma-informed talk therapy, I help clients process unresolved experiences, calm the nervous system, and develop healthier ways to cope—without judgment and at a pace that feels safe.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and EMDR-trained trauma therapist offering trauma therapy for adults in Bend, Oregon and across the state. My practice is fully virtual and available to adults (18+) living in Oregon.
